Jerry Katz

Since November, 1997, I’ve been making the varieties of nondual teachings accessible to the general public, including the spiritual, religious, scientific, psychological, philosophical, creative and artistic communities, and more.

No teacher or tradition is central to this work. I had childhood initiations into my nature as I AM, became stabilized in the recognition of I AM, and then the I AM condition dissolved for no apparent reason.

I foresaw the popularity of nonduality, identified and named the Nonduality Movement, and continue to recognize and encourage its growth, expansion, development, and evolution.

My work plays out through this blog and also

a website, Nonduality.com;

a newsletter, The Nonduality Highlights;

book reviews;

a book, One: Essential Writings on Nonduality;

Twitter;

Facebook;

as co-organizer of Nonduality Satsang in Atlantic Canada.

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and am available for interviews, speaking engagements, and creative collaborations. Contact.

I speak about the nature of nonduality and describe the landscape of nonduality. If you would like an introductory talk on nonduality to be delivered to your group, please send me details. I will shape the talk to appeal to your group.

  3. [...] Jerry Katz has posted 4 five minute talks by Vicki Woodyard on his blog, Nonduality.org (which is a great resource in itself). If you have not heard Vicki Woodyard yet, this collection of recordings is a great intro to one woman that is definitely tapped into the vast unnamable fathomless void, check it out here: [...]

    Dear Jerry,

    It was great to see you at the Boulder Dialogues on Nondual Awareness this last weekend. I still remember with fondness the conference we organized back in the mid-90′s. It might have been the first non-teacher-centric nonduality conference ever.

    Anyway, this last Saturday, you gave an impassioned talk on spreading the word on nonduality by creating tiny 30-second elevator spiels on nonduality. I’ve already begun to do that. And it’s working.

    Warmly,

    –Greg

  5. Jerry, I think it’s wonderful what you are doing. Great resources, plus moderating the lengthy and civil conversation about Master Adi Da. I’ve benefited from Nisargadatta’s teaching. Many blessings to you and thanks, Morgan

    Just starting to explore the internet resources on the subject. Have been a seeker for over 35 yrs.
    Only now that my kids are grown do I feel a tremendous pull back. I have no special education or degree, I’m just a working man.
    Its good to know theres others out there.

    Thanks in advance, while I dig in.

    Its easy to feel a little intimidated

    All the writings are various ways of saying the same thing — that you exist; that there is no “you” — and of living that paradox. Enjoy the ways of talking about it, and contribute to the gang of writings if you wish to! –Jerry

    hello jerry. Typing here is fine but adding a post on the non-duality adi da blog is still not working correctly. I type without the letters appearing as I type. They appear ages afterwards. Is there a way of correcting this? thank you Jerry

  9. Jerry Says:

    I don’t know, Petrananda. The same happens to me when I type stuff on Twitter sometimes. It’s the WordPress or Twitter server, I believe. The servers get so busy they can’t process the keystrokes quickly enough.

    Hey Jerry.

    here is a beautiful speech by David Foster Wallace- I just read his Book “Infinite Jest”, which was translated to german last year and i really felt that it is – among myriads of other “things” – also a non-dual book in some way. It’s like Wallace is trying to approach nondual-consciousness by emphasizing all the pitfalls of ordinary life and consciousness, trying to crack the endless loops of the mind by giving the reader a notion of truths otherwise too banal to accept. Here is a link to a summary of a speech Wallace held for students at Kenyon College, that – in my understanding – adresses some key issues of this book and his deepfelt need for a spiritual approach to consciousness and everyday life :

    Epistemological panic in the face of nonduality:
    Does nothing matter?

    – Does nothing matter: “mattering” of “nothingness”?
    – In quest of a “meta-model”: engaging in a meta-modelling process?
    – Strategic engagement: higher orders of vigilance?
    – Transcending duality: epistemological panic of nonduality?

    I believe that the world needs more of these types of visionaries.

  17. Andres Says:

    Jerry,
    What is your connection to Bhagawan Nityananda of Ganeshpuri?

  18. Jerry Says:

    As a boy around age ten I had visionary visitations from two men. In later years it became clear to me that one of them was Nityananda. This knowing intuition was confirmed when I read his book, Nitya Sutras, and certain passages set off strong Kundalini reactions within me. Nityananda, through his psychic visitations, initiated a realization of my fundamental condition or presence as I Am. Yet that has been released, like the comic books of youth, and all that is left is the story about Nityananda and events associated with him. Although I tell the story of Nityananda, it is like showing an old and interesting comic book no longer read. Yet in its time and place it was important and powerful. But even today, even in this moment, I only have to think about Nityananda and I start to feel the vibration of Kundalini.
